Unbelievable

Remember that perfectly painted portrait I’ve told you about that hung in the house I lived in during my early years? The eyes followed you around the room. The man in the portrait was my uncle’s uncle, so it made him more real to us. The house had been his sister’s house. He had very likely walked the floors many times as a visitor; perhaps spent the night once or twice... That was the same house where distinct knocking was heard on the primary door, and no one was there… Nor was there anyone at any of the other outside doors... Not even footprints in the fresh snow…

I was “raised” with God, angels, ghosts, demons, miracles, and more, (don’t forget Santa and the Easter Bunny!) which has allowed me to believe in a lot of things, good and bad. I expect the reason I can’t watch horror or ghost stories is because I believe in these entities (okay, I don’t believe in zombies, Frankenstein, etc. Those are clearly manmade). Whether they are souls departed or good or bad angels doesn’t matter; I believe they exist.

Then there are fairies, gnomes, leprechauns and their like. Fairies have had their share of potential existence documentation and leprechauns as well, so we'll tackle gnomes. They have definitely risen in popularity since the movie "Gnomeo and Juliet" came out. Did those cartoons make you want to believe that garden gnomes come alive when we're not looking? I know a person, who when they were about five, whose older siblings would show him/her the garden gnomes they put out every summer, then tell her/him they were real. To prove it was true, some of the siblings would take the youngster to the backyard while one of the siblings would grab the gnome and race it to the backyard before she/he got there. This person grew up convinced gnomes were real. And he/she still has the belief that they could be real and they cherish that they can believe it if they want to.

The point is some of us have had experiences with "other worldly/heavenly" beings and some of us have been fooled into thinking something is real when it probably isn't, but I would rather believe in a lot of stuff than not believe in anything. How blank that would be. Not boring, but blank. Missing from our spirits. Like our dear ones who have gone on before us. How do we know what is beyond our earthly vision? God can impart what He deems we need to know for us to believe, but we have to choose what we want to believe. I rather like being able to believe in the impossible. I’ve seen the impossible happen tons of times. Don’t let this stuff scare you or hinder your time here – whether it’s real or not – but make yourself open to whatever you are wanting to believe in. Maybe it is as simple as believing you are worthy of living this life. You were placed here for a reason; believe it.

The original picture I chose for this blog was of the house I mention in my first paragraph, but I decided I'd used it before and that I could use the angel picture. But even though I tried several times to change the picture, the house was still there when I published this blog. I had to create a new blog page to get the angel. Now do you believe?
