Our Heavenly Prankster

We lost a son/brother/-in-love/husband/father/grandfather late 2024. He not only had a big heart and a big voice, but he was hilarious. When the year 2000 rolled around (Y2K, do you remember it?), everyone was petrified that the computer systems were going to crash. Tons of extra computer programmers were hired to get the systems ready to flip to 2000 (instead of 1900’s). There was a great deal of commotion leading up to it. Some people bought or created survival kits. Others backed up everything on their computers to external sources (floppy discs). Most of us stayed up late that night waiting for the end of the world – or at least the end of our computers and life as we knew it. My family gathered at one of my sister’s houses for a New Year's Eve party, and everyone waited with bated breath as the countdown began… Ten…nine…eight… At the stroke of midnight, all the lights went out!!! Screams and shouts burst out. Verbal chaos ensued. After a several seconds, the lights suddenly came back on, and there was a distinct male snicker from the basement. My brother-in-law had snuck downstairs and pulled the main breaker (it wasn't his house, lol, but he apparently knew where to go). Laughter was pretty ripe at that point. The prank will likely stay with all of us into forever as we got such a laugh out of his ability to take advantage of a moment. And the computer hoopla was for nothing. Our computer geniuses got it done. (And here we are - 26 years later!!) We love you, Mark! See you in heaven someday! (I wonder if he'll get to do pranks in heaven. It seems only right as he was so good at them down here and he never hurt anyone. One day we'll find out!)

Yes, this is a Y2K note pad that someone gave us, lol. What an adventure that was!
