Snuggling Pink Unicorns

Do you ever wake up and just want to stay in bed? (Lol, every day?) Do you need a snuggle down, resting kind of day? When my husband was young, he was given a stuffed tiger before having his tonsils taken out. He still remembers that toy. Fast forward, when as an adult he had another surgery, and his sister gave him a tiger like the one he had gotten when he was young. Apparently, she remembered it too. It hangs over his bed post, along with a stuffy from one of his granddaughters. I am sure there are lots of days he doesn’t even notice them, but other times, they give him comfort and joy when he sees them hanging there, being cute and ever watchful. Gifts from beloved people warm our hearts – it doesn’t matter if they are made of plastic or gold.

We may be adults now. We may have the responsibility of many people and feel the weight of the world on our shoulders at times. We may need to be strong indefinitely for ourselves or for others. But. We still need comfort, peace, joy – preferably from our beloved, but if a stuffed animal, or favorite blanket, or book, or comfy corner of our world does it, we ought to go for it. Hug your unicorn, smile at the stuffies you have been given, read a favorite book, or snuggle in your favorite spot. Let peace take over for a time. Five minutes or five hours. Then you can go out and fight dragons again. Ready and raring to go.
