Spring – New Life

There’s a magic to Spring that is in no other season. It’s the new life that comes out of death. The Earth turns, the rains come, and the magic happens. Sometimes, when we’re not really paying attention. Sometimes it happens practically overnight after a heavy rain. Maybe we are stuck indoors, whether it’s our job or circumstances, and we get outside and look around us and realize the once dead-looking trees are suddenly green. Baby leaves sprouting and calling to the world – we are back! Watch us do our thing! The early flowers beckoning – come, see our glory! You have missed us! And another year of freshness and beauty and life abounds.

When we get stale, we, too, need new life. When we struggle for a long time with trials, we need new life. If we equate ourselves with nature, with God, with how we are built to survive, we can know that new life can arise out of the lifeless, the listless, the broken.

If you are living in an area where Spring is active, take the time to sit and watch it in the silence of its magic. Listen to what is has to say to you and let it breathe new life into you. Let the colorful flowers of the fruit trees speak to your heart. Maybe the magic only lasts until you have to face your battles again, but a new-life reprieve is food for the soul. Take it.
